Tricorder TR-580 Manual
Main features of the TR-580
The device features two main modes. One being the sensing mode, the other one being the Library querying mode. Furthermore the source for data information can the switched between internal (the TRICORDER itself) and external sources such as the Long Range Sensors of any Starfleet vessel in range of 40,000 km.
Functions of the TR-580
PWR-Button
Touching this button will switch on the device. Initially the device is switched to internal mode, sensing for biological signals.
E-Button
Touching the E-Button will prompt the TR-580 to connect to the sensor systems of the mother ship. Please note that the maximum distance to any vessel may not exceed 40,000 km.
I-Button
Switches the TR-580 into internal mode. Library functions are limited to internal memory of the TR-580
F1/F2 - Button
This button switches between the sensing mode and data mode (also called library mode). Once the sensors have detected something, hitting the F1/F2 button quickly pulls up matching results from the library, thus providing more detailed information on the analyzed object. If the displayed information is not sufficient touch the button labeled Library This will pull up more detailed information from various sources.
GEO-Button
Touching this button will switch into geological sensing mode. In this mode any geological matter like minerals, rocks or liquids can be analyzed. In data mode this button will instruct the TR-580 to pull up detailed geological information from the library.
MET-Button
This button switches the device into sensing mode for metallic objects. In this mode any metallic object stationary or approaching will be analyzed. In data mode this button will instruct the TR-580 to pull up detailed information from the library.
BIO-Button
Switches the TR-580 into biological scan mode. Any plant or life form may be analyzed in this mode. In data mode this button will instruct the TR-580 to pull up detailed biological information from the library.
LIBRARY-Button
Note:This button works only on data mode - see F1/F2 button Touching this button pulls detailed information from various vast sourced of knowledge

Note 1:For the following functions to work the core location feature of the device must be enabled. (Settings / General / Locations Services!) Note 2:Use the Settings application to set your screen name and switch the location tracking feature on. (Settigs / Tricorder / Location Tracking) Touched once (TRICRDR lit red) the TR-580 transmits your current location to the mothership. If you are moving the current position readings on the screen are updated. Note:Course and bearing are only updated when moving! Touching the area marked MAP will show your current location in Google Maps. To get back to the coordinate view touch the area marked CRD" Touched twice (INTRSHIP lit red) the TR-580 uses the mothership's sensors to scan for crew members in a radius of max. 10,000km around your current location By default the tracking system is in auto mode. It will automatically zoom out from your current location until other "crew members" are found. Crew members are shown in light blue color and cities are shown in white. Touching one or several light blue marks will bring up a list screen with names and distance. This list is limited to five entries. Touching the list brings back the tracking screen. First of all I have to thank once again Andy Tudor who did all the graphics for backgrounds and buttons. All the graphics of planets and nebulae are in the public domain because they were created by the European Space Agency and NASA. Hubble material is copyright-free and may be freely used as in the public domain without fee, on the condition that ESA and NASA is credited as the source of the material. The material was created for ESA by the Hubble European Space Agency Information Centre and for NASA by STScI under Contract NAS5-26555. Information for the Library screens have been taken from Wikipedia.org and from memory-alpha.org The LCARS sreens are based upon the designs of Michael Okuda and his Okudagrams. Many thanks to Chris Brennan for his valuable input, the "voices" and the endless testing of TR-580.
